Activities

On the summit of the Skirrid MountainWalking: Abergavenny is an ideal area for walking. Pyscodlyn is situated in the picturesque Usk Valley and walks from the campsite suit all abilities.  Gentle strolls can be taken along the river or you can venture up into the Black Mountains. The Sugar Loaf Mountain can be reached from the campsite, or for those less able, a 10 minute car journey takes you to the open hill and you have a multitude of paths to explore.  The town is surrounded by seven hills - plenty of variety for your walks! 

You can reach the heart of the Brecon Beacons within half an hour by car.

Fishing: The R.Usk is a haven for fishermen.  You are able to buy day tickets from Pyscodlyn for a mileFishing on the River Usk - famous for its trout and salmon and a half stretch along one bank.  This is for trout or salmon.  There are reservoirs within easy travelling distance and various other parts of the river to explore.  Coarse fishing is also available on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal

Cycling: There are so many tracks, lanes and paths to explore for the mountain bike enthusiasts.  We are happy to provide you with routes.  Abergavenny hosted the National British Cycling Championships in 2009, the ladies race being won by Nicole Cook.  Cycle hire can be arranged from Pyscodlyn Caravan Site

Golf: The county of Monmouthshire is the home to at least twelve 18 hole golf courses. Abergavenny has 2 – The Monmouthshire and Wernddu.  Within half an hour is the Celtic Manor Resort, venue of the 2010 Ryder Cup and The Rolls of Monmouth plus several lesser known courses.  Ken (owner of Pyscodlyn) is a keen golfer and more than happy to help with any info regarding courses.

Pony Trekking in the Brecon BeaconsRiding:

Within half an hour by car there are at least 4 licensed trekking centres. What better way to explore the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons than on horseback

Paragliding / paramotoring: For those of you with a sense of adventure, explore some of the area with a tandem flight!!
